As a young boy growing up in the rural neighbourhood of the former Deighton Downs, George Tafaria imagined returning one day to help transform his community into a place of opportunity, creativity, learning and hope. Together with his wife, Eunice Tafaria, that dream became reality. Every programme, building and experience at Tafaria is an expression of that original dream.

The story began with George Tafaria's childhood desire to help transform the rural area where he grew up. Together with Eunice Tafaria, that idea developed from an open-air community information centre into a castle, country lodge, conference centre and Center for the Arts.
